Howard Matthew Moses Long (born on January 6, 1960)is an American sports analyst and former professional footballer. Long spent his entire career playing in the National Football League (NFL), as a defensive lineman. Long was picked by the Raiders in 1981's second round. He earned eight Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All Pro selections. This helped the Raiders win an Super Bowl victory over the Washington Redskins. He was inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.After retiring, Long pursued a career in broadcasting and acting. He also is currently an analyst on the studio of Fox Sports' NFL coverage.He attended Milford High School in Milford, MA,and is a member of Milford's Milford Hall of Fame. Long was an all-round athlete, including football (lettered for three years and was selected to the Scholastic Coach All-America team as a senior, although he had never played football until age 15), basketball (lettered three years as a forward) and track (lettered three years, competing in javelin, shot put, discus as well as javelin). Long also held records in the state of Texas for discus and shot put. [citation needed]
