 Darren Watkins Jr. (born 21 January 2005), better known by his online pseudonym IShowSpeed (or simply Speed), is an American YouTuber, streamer and internet personality. The variety of livestreams he hosts, in which he plays primarily games on video, such as Fortnite, Roblox, Fortnite and Valorant are what make his YouTube channel famous. Watkins is known for his frequently shocking comedic behavior on live streams which has helped him gain a strong fan base, while also putting him at the center of numerous controversies.Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Watkins created his channel "IShowSpeed" in 2017 primarily posting gaming videos. From 2021 until 2022, he began increasing his popularity to the re-sponse of catchy clips of his live streams across social media platforms. He was named Breakout Streamer of the Year at the 12th Streamy Awards in 2022. Watkins began livestreaming games like Fortnite as well as NBA 2K in December 2017. He only managed only two people per month. In the end, his subscriber base saw a rise in the space of just a few months, rising to 100 thousand subscribers in April 2021. 1 million by June 2021, and 10 million by July 2022.
