Malcolm Washington

Malcolm Washington, an American producer, director and writer is more famous than actor Denzel Washington's father. Malcolm Washington was born into an actor's family and theater stars. He was always interested in filmmaking and films from a young age. He took his interest forward and decided to pursue an undergraduate degree in film studies from the University of Pennsylvania. While he was there, Malcolm also enjoyed a excellent basketball career and was even a part of his college. After graduation, he made the decision to concentrate on film productions exclusively and gave up basketball in a competitive manner. He began his career in the entertainment industry as a production assistant in the film 'Chef' that was a huge success in 2014. He was promoted to second assistant director for 'Trouble Man in the following year, and later became assistant director for the short film 'The Last Bookstore. Spike Lee also appointed him as an assistant director on the series "She's Gotta Have It". His breakthrough came from his short film 'Benny Got Shot' which he both wrote and directed. Washington was able to receive a lot of positive feedback for the movie, which was also awarded the Filmmaker Award by the Atlanta Film Festival. Washington recently released "The Disput" and has many other projects underway.
