Jacqueline Fernandez, a model and actress from Sri Lanka, was born 11 August 1985. She has appeared in Indian films, predominantly in Hindi as well as appearing in music videos and reality shows. Her debut came in Hindi films in 2009 with Aladin. Fernandez was born and was raised in Bahrain to a multiracial Eurasian family of Sri Lankan, Canadian, and Malaysian origin. After graduating with a degree in mass communication from the University of Sydney and working as a television reporter in Sri Lanka, she joined the modelling industry. In 2006 she was crowned Miss Universe Sri Lanka and represented her country at Miss Universe 2006. While on a modeling assignment in India in 2009, Fernandez auditioned for Sujoy Ghosh’s romantic drama Aladin. It was her debut as an actor. Fernandez's first role was the psychological thriller Murder 2 (2011). This was her first commercial success. It was followed by dazzling roles in the ensemble comedy that was commercially successful Housefull 2 (2012) and the action thriller Race 2 (2013), which won her an IIFA Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination. Fernandez was a star in the action movies Kick (2014), Vikrant Rona (2022) and the comedic Housefull 3 (2016).
