Katherine Dee Strickland (born December 14 1975) is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Charlotte King on the ABC drama Private Practice (2007-2013).Strickland began acting during high school. She was a trained actor in Philadelphia and New York City, where she obtained mostly small parts in television, film, and stage projects, among them The Sixth Sense (1999). She was a part of the 2003 Hollywood films Anything Else, and Something's Gotta Give. This resulted in her being a part in the horror film Anacondas. She was referred to then as "the pride and joy of Patterson" and "the new Scream Queen" although her performances in both films were not well received by the critics. The film received a positive review. Fever Pitch in 2005 and was a frequent appearance on The Wedding Bells in 2007. She was subsequently added to the Cast of the show Private Practice.Strickland has spoken out against the importance placed on beauty within the Los Angeles acting community, in which she has stated that her Southern U.S. background has helped to distinguish herself against the other blonde actresses.She has also spoken about her love for her strong female characters as well as an inability to avoid making her appearance more sexual or emotional as female. She has also collaborated with RAINN following her participation in the storyline where her Private Practice character was raped.
