Suranne Jones

 Sarah Anne Akers (nee Jones) born on 27 August 1978, is an English actress. She is popularly referred to as Suranne Jones. She became famous as Karen McDonald in Coronation Street between 2000 to 2004. After leaving Coronation Street in 2004, she continued her TV career with dramas such as Vincent (2005-2006), Strictly Confidential (2006), and Harley Street (2008). The role she played as convicted murderer Ruth Slater in the mini-series Unforgiven (2009) received acclaimBetween between 2011 and 2016. Jones starred as Detective RacheBailey in the crime procedural Scott & Bailey which was her second collaboration with screenwriter Sally Wainwright after Unforgiven. The roles she played in Single Father (both 2010 and Five Days) and The Crimson Field (2014) garnered more attention. In addition, she performed on stage in the productions of A Few Good Men (2006), Blithe Spirit (2008), Top Girls (2011) and Orlando (2013). Jones was awarded several awards for her portrayal of Gemma Foster, a successful doctor who is betrayed by her husband. Following the conclusion of Doctor Foster, Jones returned to the stage, playing in the production of Frozen for which she received positive notices. On TV, Jones has starred in Save Me (2018), Vigil (2021) and Gentleman Jack (2019-present), the latter being her fourth co-production with Wainwright.
