Elizabeth Montgomery was born in the show business. Her parents were Robert Montgomery, a screen actor and Elizabeth Allen, a Broadway actress. Elizabeth was a graduate of the Spence School in New York City and was a student at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. After three years' intensive training she began her TV debut in her father's 1950s playhouse series Robert Montgomery Presents (1950) and was featured in more than 200 live programs in the next decade. One of her first remarks was "I suppose you could consider me a TV-baby." Some of her most notable early roles in film were The Court-Martial of Billy Mitchell (1955), and Johnny Cool (1963). The most well-known role she has played is her character Samantha as the witch on the most watched sitcom on ABC Bewitched (1964). Her family members, including her mother Endora Moorehead (Agnes Moorehead) as well as her look-alike cousin Serena Montgomery (in dark-colored wig), and her husband Darrin (first Dick York, and later Dick Sargent), tried to suppress her supernatural abilities but she often used her tricks to solve problems. Samantha was able to feel a slight twitch in her nose , as it was if she had been experiencing witchcraft. After her debut and sole TV show ended, she turned her attention to TV-produced films, many of which were praised by critics: A Case of Rape (1974), The Legend of Lizzie Borden (1975), Black Widow Murders: The Blanche Taylor Moore Story (1993). The Panama Deception (1992) was nominated for an Academy Award in 1993, was performed by her. While her death was reported in reference books the family of her deceased stated that she was 57 when she died. The cause of her death was not disclosed by her family.
