Marg Helgenberger is a renowned dramatic actress whose fame has steadily grown. Her work has been praised in film, stage and television. Her professional career was dominated by dramatic roles on TV, but she also has an impressive presence in feature films. Helgenberger graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in drama. She was enlisted by a talent scout to be a part of Ryan's Hope (1975), where she was a star for four seasons. She was included in films made for both the Lifetime cable network as well as Showtime. The films that received the most praise were In Sickness and in Health (1992), Thanks of a Grateful Nation (191998), and Perfect Murder, Perfect Town JonBenet, Boulder (2000). She was also awarded an Emmy for a television series for her performance of an unemployed prostitute who worked with Vietnam War soldiers in China Beach (1988). She also was George Clooney's love interest on a multi-episode arc of the monumentally successful TV series ER (1994).In feature films, Helgenberger has appeared in Tootsie (1982) as well as Steven Spielberg's Always (1989), Species (1995) and In Good Company (2004).
