The oldest of two daughters, born to white parents and black mother, Michael Michele Williams was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana. As an athlete as young, she competed in track and volleyball in high school. However, her specialization was basketball. She was the top forward for her school's top-ranked women's basketball team. But, Michael also had a passion for acting and after graduating from high school in 1984, she departed to New York City. The first roles she had as an actor were in commercials and music videos. However, in 1988, she got an appearance as a guest on the HBO series 1st & Ten. When she filed a suit against Eddie Murphy over sexual harassment, she was all ready to make her feature-film debut in Eddie Murphy's Harlem Nights (1989). Michael made her debut as a feature-film actress with a tiny part in the fantasy Def by Temptation (1990) with her role as the main character
