Millicent Simmonds

 Millicent (Millie) Simmonds is an American actress, is nominated for an BAFTA nomination. She is most well-known for Wonderstruck (2017) and A Quiet Place Part II (2018). Millicent originally hails from Bountiful, Utah and at an early age, she began performing and telling stories using American Sign Language. Millicent was a member of the drama and theater club in her primary school. She played Puck in Midsummer Night's Dream. She never expected to be an actress since she'd never seen Deaf characters like her in the screen or on television. In 2016, her drama teacher received an email with a casting request for a Deaf actress who was wanted to play the role of Rose in a film adaptation of the novel by Brian Selznick Wonderstruck. She quickly thought of Millie and suggested she audition for. Millie submitted an audition in one take which brought director Todd Haynes to tears, making her a stunning breakthrough performance. Millicent and Wonderstruck premiered at Cannes and the New York Film Festival. AP named her one of the Breakthrough Entertainers for 2017. Time Magazine listed Rose among the top 10 film performances of 2017. Millicent was offered her first major role as Regan Abbott in John Krasinski's horror thriller A Quiet Place, working alongside Emily Blunt and Noah Jupe. Krasinski was determined to cast a Deaf actress to portray Regan and also using American Sign Language authentically. Her personal experiences were a source of ideas and inspiration for th
