Sarah Shahi was born Aahoo Jahansouzshahi in Euless, Texas, to an Iranian father and Spanish-Iranian mom. She is a former NFL cheerleader and descendant of the 19th century Persian Shah. She attended Trinity High School, Southern Methodist University and studied opera. English was her major. As a teenager she was a winner of numerous beauty contests and won first prize in the Miss Fort Worth USA pageant in 1997. She was cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys from 1999 to 2000. She also appeared on the front cover of the 2000 calendar.While working as an extra on the production of Dr. T & the Women (2000), she was introduced to director Robert Altman, who encouraged her to move to Hollywood to pursue acting as an actor. Shahi was the very first ghost to be featured in Supernatural (2005) which is a CW paranormal drama. In a variety of TV series, she had frequent roles, including Alias (2001) in which she played "Jenny" as well as Dawson's Creek (1998), where she was "Sadiashaw". She was a popular character in her role as the Mexican-American DJ "Carmen de la Pica Morales" in the Showtime series, The L Word (2004) that she joined in the second season. Sarah's contract was terminated for season four and her character was written out.
