Barry William Blenkhorn grew up in Santa Monica, California and at the age of 4 years old, he became one of those annoying kids who were determined and bound to enter the show business. He was neighbors with actor Peter Graves whom he idolized and asked for advice on how to become an actor. His answer was to think about it. At 11 years old, Barry Williams changed his name from Barry William Blenkhorn to Barry Williams. He was then an actor coach, and also took several scene studies in Sherman Oaks and took courses on techniques for television and film that later led to him landing leading roles in an educational industrial called "Why Johnny Reads" and was offered roles in commercials on TV. Then he was a guest on TV shows like Run for Your Life (1965), Here Come the Brides (68), It is to Be a Thief (68), Marcus Welby M.D. (1969) and Mission: Impossible (1966), but then success was his when he was offered the role in the role of "Greg Brady" in the blockbuster blockbuster family sitcom The Brady Bunch (1969).
